TGC Night Match Guidelines

Matches will be executed the same as daytime matches for safety and operations. The following guidelines will address additional lighting and procedural considerations.

1) The match area will be blocked off and signage to prevent a vehicle from driving in with lights on that may “blind/disorientate” participants. Vehicles in the match area will be parked facing away from the shooting area in case someone has to leave. A RSO will coordinate the departure.

2) Matches will run at least one stage prior to official sunset. This is to give everyone the opportunity to see the setup and establish stage protocols with daylight.

3) Covered and initial shooter ready areas will be illuminated with red light.

4) Weapons not IN-USE by a shooter will have some type of illumination.

a. Staged weapons will have glow stick with them for identification. This is for any weapon not directly in use by a shooter for the stage.

b. This includes weapons placed in the stage for later use. (Glowstick on table next to gun or in a barrel)

5) Targets may or may not be illuminated depending on the stage objectives. Shooters and RSOs must be able to clearly identify the target before engagement. (Targets will be illuminated by external light, gun light, handheld light or some type of night vision.)

6) Some type of illumination will be used to verify a weapon is clear at the end of the stage by the RSO and then safed.

7) Shooting boundaries/boxes will be illuminated with glow sticks if red lights are not used to illuminate the boundaries. (TRIP HAZARD Reduction)

8) Chamber flags that extend into the chamber will be used on any weapon not cased or holstered. Magazine blocks do not give assurance that a round is not in the chamber.

9) RSOs will have white lights immediately available for an emergency. Preferably carried on them.

10) The Match will be planned for completion by 9PM but will absolutely stop by 9:30.

11) Noise/Caliber Limitations

a. Pistols are restricted from extra loud calibers: 38 +P, any Magnum, 454C/50 caliber, ect.

b. Center Fire rifles will use a silencer or subsonic ammunition.
