If you are not familiar with NRL22, it is a great (and cheap) way to experience precision rifle shooting. You will need a 22 rifle with a scope that can help with bullet drop from 50 to 100 yards (8 inches) and parallax adjustment from 25 to 100 yards. A bipod, sling and a couple bags to help stabilize the shooting position. A simple Google search will show many websites that talk about NRL22 and explain how the match is run. The NRL22 website will also show you the main 5 stages so you can practice before the match!

We also add extra stages for more fun and flexibility to extend shooting distances to 200 yards.

We will closely follow the NRL22 rules and monthly course of fire but we just want everyone to come out and try shooting NRL22 and have fun. If you have a handicap and cannot get into some of the positions, we will make accommodations (OG Class). I do not care if the OG class decides to sit in a recliner and use a tri-pod for all stages! Just come shoot if you are interested.

Registration 8AM, Shooting Starts at 9AM for this match. We will be holding a match for center fire rifles with distances out to 500 yards. We will start at 100/200 yards and work our way out to 300 and 500. You will have to demonstrate that you can put rounds on target before moving further out. Hint: It is not that hard and the RSOs/CD will help!!!!

We will have a very relaxed format with site-in time at each distance before running the stage at that distance so you will know your gun is on target. Please look at some of the NRL22 stages (https://nrl22.org/downloads/) for an idea of what we plan to do. The same classifications will be used so there will be an OG class. If the OG class wants to use a recliner with a tripod for each stage, they can, just come have fun!

Match round count - 50 Plus whatever you want to use for sight-in.

COST: $500 plus $40 range fee.

    Where: Temple Gun Club Range

    When: November 12 & 13, 2022

This two-day course focuses on the mechanics of marksmanship at speed with a carbine and pistol as well as transitioning between weapons systems. This course is not about tactics, but instead is about skill with firearms. Your skill at shooting drives your tactics, and the ability to make a shot with precision, rapidly, and under pressure, is of paramount importance. Our goal is for every student to finish this class with a deeper understanding of how to construct their personal training in order to improve as efficiently as possible.

Ammo available if purchased 2 weeks or more prior to class date.

    Topics Covered:

Fundamental principles of marksmanship at speed

Efficiency and consistency of weapons manipulation at speed

Efficient and consistent transitioning between weapons systems at speed

Movement principles for application of shooting technique

Technical efficiency and individual optimization of technique

Isolation of skills and training methodology for improvement

    Technical experimentation in training

Complex drills for training skills in aggregate

    Maximizing performance under pressure

Creating a feedback loop for maximizing efficiency of training

    Course Prerequisites

Good health and a fitness level sufficient for strenuous physical activity. All our classes incorporate vigorous athletic movement.

All our classes require safe weapons handling at an unconsciously competent level of skill. This includes drawing from a holster, reholstering, reloads, and weapons safety during dynamic movement and under physical and mental stress. Flagrant or negligent unsafe actions will result in removal from a class without refund.

    Equipment Requirements

Serviceable pistol of 9mm or larger caliber, minimum 3 magazines (6 for single stack guns), belt, holster and at a minimum two pistol mag pouches capable of retaining weapon and magazines during strenuous movement. Serviceable carbine, if pistol caliber then 9mm or larger, if rifle caliber 5.56 or larger. Minimum 3 carbine magazines, belt and at least one carbine magazine pouch capable of retaining magazines during strenuous movement, and a secure sling. Minimum 500 rounds each of pistol and carbine ammunition although more is recommended. Eye/ear protection for range. No Serpa holsters or soft nylon/leather holsters permitted in class.

Here at Greybeard Actual, we are happy to announce that we now have a partnership with Stand 1 Armory, a manufacturer of high-quality factory and factory remanufactured ammunition. This means we can now offer training ammunition with our classes. The ammo will be at a discounted price, and with free shipping to the class venue. When you sign up for our classes moving forward, you’ll have the option to add the ammo needed for the class to your purchase. When you get to the first day of class, your ammo will be there ready to go.

    2-day Practical Performance Class

    Registration:

    https://practiscore.com/events/2-day-practical-performance-at-temple-gun-club/participants/create

Space allowing, we will set up a full stage, for students to run through at the beginning of class. The stage will include a number of elements such as entries and exits, opportunities to shoot on the move, awkward positions, close and far targets, and high risk arrays. This first run through will be an assessment tool, helping the instructor to figure out your shooting style and where improvements can be made. Throughout the class we will occasionally revisit this stage, and use parts of it to isolate and develop skills, and set up drills.

Classes consist of 10-13 students, and are two days long. Classes are focused on the practical shooting skills that will help you more confidently plan, tackle, and shave time from your performance with a pistol. While this class does contain some advanced fundamentals, the class is dynamic and stage oriented. The class also includes a day of “firing line” type fundamentals training, however we wont burn through ammo like a regular class. Therefore, the round counts are bit lower than what you might have seen at traditional 2-day classes in the past – we will make them count. I am a firm believer that when it comes to proper practice, quality is much more important than quantity, so this class will also cover principles of efficient practice, and how to structure your practices to identify and address your weaknesses. Students should plan on bringing a lunch.

    In addition, we'll be covering:

    Day 1

    1. Assessment of current skill of students

    2. Group shooting and untimed accuracy

    3. Concepts of grip/hand placement and position on the pistol and applied pressures

    4. Understanding sight management

    5. Diagnosing grip and triggering issues

    6. One handed SHO/WHO shooting concepts

    7. Dry fire skills and techniques for improvement

    8. Managing mental and emotional pressure

    9. Sight deviation and sight anchoring (what it is and it's advantage of accuracy at speed)

    10. Shot calling (understanding and mastery)

    Day 2

    1. Multiple targets and transitions (building efficiency)

    2. Throttle control and its application

    3. Entries/Exits

    4. Importance of having gun up ready to shoot ALWAYS

    5. Barrel Drill

    6. Stage planning (visualization, self talk)

    7. Stage shooting and performance improvement and evaluation

    Equipment needed:

    500 rounds ammunition

Reliable pistol (consider a back up pistol as well)

    At least 3 magazines

    Holster and mag pouches

    Safety equipment (eye protection/hearing protection)

Range bag/gear needed for a day at the range

Relevant weather related gear (rain gear, umbrella, sunscreen, hat, jacket, gloves, etc...prepare for any weather)
